Capillary Action

didn't get to review this worthy set, but here's the pitch, dated 8/10/08

So Jon Pfeffer. sent me this album, So Embarrasing, by his group, Capillary
Action, after you directed him to me, and it sounds like Costello
after his Bacharach sessions, if he'd gone on to the Frank Zappa
Orchestra or something based on one of those great (or at least
spirited) lost rock-orchesrtral notions that bloomed one lush 'n'
hazy, somewhat crazy late 60s/early 70s spring: frustrated romantic
who makes his own geek mythology, hurling Carl Stallings-like
prismatic blasts of scrolls, spears, telescopes, whatever it takes, to
"keep you at armslength," but keep you, and impress the Maid In The
Moon with his manly turf-cultivations and tee-offs. More a matter of
tunefulness than tunes, but more towards indiosyncracy than vagueness.
Most of them stand on their own well enough for our puposes,  though
I'm not tempted to try to catalogue it track by track. So  it seems
like something worth yr consideration. Thanks for having it sent
along. d
